REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Master’s Degree and Certification for Diagnostician OR Valid Texas License for School Psychology
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, education of special education students, human development, and learning theories. Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to travel to multiple work locations as assigned
MAJOR RESONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Collaborate with campus staff regarding the implementation of the RtI process.
2. Receive student referrals and follow specific timelines to implement the evaluation process
3. Select, administer, and score formal and informal assessments to determine student eligibility for special education services according to federal IDEA B laws and Texas Education Agency regulations.
4. Collect and organize relevant assessment data from student’s cumulative folder, classroom teacher(s), principal, support staff, parents, and outside resource people
5. Conduct personal interviews.
6. Arrange for and participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal, (ARD), Committee regarding interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and development of the Individual Education Plans, (IEP), for students according to district procedures.
7. Work with the Director and CoOp personnel to ensure timelines are met.
8. Consult with parents, students, and other professionals concerning the educational needs of students and interpretation of assessment data.
9. Coordinate the initiation or extinction of special education services and complete documentation required.
10.Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
11.Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy in the area of assessment, placement, and planning for special education services. 12.Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations.
13.Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents.
14.Assist in the selection of assessment materials and equipment.
15.Conduct home visits as needed.
16.Develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships with students and parents.
17.Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant individuals to enhance their work with students and ensure compliance with laws, policies, ARDs, and IEPs. 18.LSSP--Provide Special Education Counseling services when appropriate and needed
